Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Review

I just purchased 2 Frontier Boosters (replacing 3 Britax Marathons). They look good. However, the booster seat restraints have thin straps--meaning that they become tangled in the buckles each time they are used. This requires CONSTANT re-jiggering and untangling---each time a child gets in or out of the seat. Needless to say, this is very inconvenient.

However, my biggest complaint is that these items (like the Marathons) were recalled almost as soon as I installed them. While I am happy that they "test the recall adjustment 'fixes' ", it would be so much more convenient if they applied the same rigor and tested their INITIAL designs before "testing" them on the populace.

EVEN WORSE---when I went to the Britax website to "register" for my recall "fix", I received two different answers about the recall FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL SEAT when I registered:

--Your seat has been recalled
--Your seat has NOT been recalled

There was no way to contact Britax about this discrepancy (again, this happened for EACH seat---this is not a matter of getting one answer for one seat serial number and a different answer for the second serial number).

All my Britax products have been recalled at least once---requiring full or partial re-installment (usually in the dead of winter). For the price, these folks need to get their act together.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

First -- the recall. It is not really a recall where the entire seat is faulty and being sent back to the manufacturer. Instead, Britax says that if you pull out one strap and not the other and do this frequently, the straps may come off. I would think you would notice this but all parents hurry sometimes and may not! So you send in your product information and Britax is sending out a new piece which will prevent this problem before it happens. So to me, this does not negate the safety or performance of the seat.

My son is almost 4 and he loves this seat. It is a little trickier to use then his last seat, which was a Britax Roundabout, however, I think this is largely just because after almost 3 years of the Roundabout, we know how to use it so easily. My complaints would be that the bottom strap seems to be set in too far -- I have to retrieve it from under my son every time in order to buckle it. At first I felt the straps got twisted too easily, but this must have been "user error" as it ceased to happen after the first couple of weeks.

My son finds the seat comfortable. His only complaint is that he cannot see out the window as well because of the very large head side guards. He loves the TWO cupholders although actually in my car, the cupholder nearest the door cannot be used as there is no space to pull it out -- it hits the door.

The seat is good looking which, while it may seem silly, is important to us. Why? Because I want my son to use this seat for the next 4 or more years and if he thinks it is "red like a race car", then that makes my life easier!

The main reason I purchased this seat was that you can use it with the harness up to 80 pounds. HOWEVER -- the Safeguard Go hybrid booster is up to 60 pounds and is much less expensive and my son may be outside the height limits for the booster before 80 pounds. The problem I had with the Safeguard is it required a LATCH tether and my car does not have a tether.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I have kind of unusual situation. I am the size of an eight year old. And by law I am supposed to be in a car seat with a five point harness. I shopped around but was not impressed. They were either to flimsy or didn't fit right. So one day I was looking at babies r us and found this incredible car seat. I tried it out, and it was perfect. Harness and all. I highly recommend this car seat to every parent. Weather you have a child or a very small adult that's the size of a child.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

We have 2 preschoolers and this is our fifth (and least favorite) car seat. Installation is far more aggravating, the seat is comparatively ugly, the straps are constantly twisted, and the cup holders are flimsy and awkward to open. I would recommend the Recaro or Safe Guard Go over this seat. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

This was my second Britax seat (I was very happy with my first, the Roundabout) and recall or no recall I would highly recommend that you don't buy this seat. You will not be happy with it. I found it very difficult to install and also very difficult to buckle my son into. The straps get twisted and the metal clips that clip into the buckle get lost at the bottom of the seat. I just returned the Frontier and purchased the Boulevard instead and absolutely love it, it's much easier to use.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I did not have one problem installing this seat. I read through the instructions went out and installed it under 5 minutes and got a nice tight installation with latch and tether. I have not tried installing with the seat belt yet so I can't comment about that one right now. Make sure that you pull the recline bar forward in harness mode and tighten the latch straps through the belt holes. My daughter is very comfy in her new frontier. So far we love it. Only downfall is that it is rather large and heavy like most britax models. Not one that you would want to move around too much.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I bought the Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat for my Son and we both love it! The reason I decided to go with this one is because my Son is 2 (will be 3 next month) and is 55 pounds so I needed a seat that would still harness across the chest at his weight. I did a lot of research and found that most booster seats only harnessed up to 40 pounds and then after 40 pounds you have to just use the seat belt which I am not comfortable with (I saw a video about a little boy that died as a result of his seat belt failing; he and his booster seat were thrown out the window - VERY sad!). This seat has the highest five-point harness seat capacity that allows children to remain harnessed up to 80 pounds or in booster mode up to approximately 100 pounds. It also has headrest pad things that can help keep the child's neck and head protected if you are hit from the side. It also serves as a great pillow when the child falls asleep. You can adjust the height of the headrest to grow with your child. I would definitely recommend this seat!

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Order Now

I just purchased the Frontier and installed it in my car. This is my 5th Britax car seat, I have had 3 Marathons and one Parkway. I notice several people complain about ease of install on the Frontier, and I have one thing to say. READ THE MANUAL!!! I skimmed the manual when I got it, figuring that LATCH installation would be similar to all the other Britax seats I have had. After strugging with it for a while, I went back to the manual and discovered - it isn't. The LATCH buckles are recessed into the body of the seat, which makes it impossible to tighten the conventional way one tightens a Marathon or a Roundabout. You must reach BEHIND the seat pad and pull the LATCH tethers tight that way. Perfect, Britax quality solid installation. It is illustrated that way in the manual, and had I read it thoroughly I would have had this seat in in less than 5 minutes. So, shame on me. Second, in harness mode, you MUST flip the bottom of the seat from booster mode to harness mode. This is also in the manual. Lastly, people have complained that the straps twist - the manual addresses this too. Instead of the strap velcro that the Marathon had, Britax suggests you use the armrests to hold the straps back out of the way. Viola! No twisting.

All in all, I think this is a great seat and another example of quality Britax engineering. I can foresee that Britax might have issues with people not being able to install this seat properly, though, because people don't READ THE MANUAL!!! Can I again suggest to read the manual? I gave this seat 4 stars instead of 5 only because I wish it came in more colors and patterns - I loved my Cowmooflage seats, and am not impressed with the color and pattern selection available here. This is the last car seat I will buy, it will take my son all the way through until he can ride like an adult. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore
This carseat is very comfortable for my 3 1/2 yr old. We've always used britax and I do prefer the old model that they've discontinued now to this one. This model is VERY wide and goes over the seat in a couple of places. I drive a volvo xc90 and for us this carseat makes using the middle seat with a booster impossible. The other thing to know about this seat is that it is very difficult to get really tight. You can use the latch and the seat feels okay - but not nearly as tight as the other britax carseats we've used. Overall still a good purchase, but there may be better and less expensive options out there - wouldn't buy it twice.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I ordered this for my grandson who has three older siblings. He just turned two years old, but he is a big boy! His siblings have "booster seats", and every time they loaded up to go out, he threw a fit to sit in their seats. It is large and roomy, but not too much! Some reviews on it said it was extremely hard to install...NOT! I am 53 years old, and if I can install it, any young parent should be able to! It is a great seat with all the features my grandson needs to secure his safety!Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

My son has grown to 40" tall and almost 40 lbs. We needed a replacement for his Graco car seat we bought for the plane, that wound up in grandma's car. His other Britax seat will work until he's 65 lbs. But we needed a replacement for the lower capacity seat, and reading information on the internet, I did NOT want a belt positioning booster. Five point harness was key. There were really only two other options on the market at this time, and both were made in China. I chose this option because I've been impressed with Britax' other products, and this was at least assembled in North Carolina. It wasn't more expensive than the other 5-point harness options, and I think it's important to buy US made items when possible. He can use this for a LONG time, and he loves the armrests and the fact that we let him choose the color (racing car red). Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

We have own two Britaxes before, the Frontier is a HUGE DIASPPONTMENT!
1) The fabric is so cheap! After about a few months, the fabric actually curled up in the front from normal wearing. This hasn't happened to other Britaxes, Marathon and Roundabout after 4 years!
2) The fastener are always twisted! It's quite frustrating to deal with these while trying to buckling down a 4-yr old.
3) It's much more difficult to install it to have has it satisfyingly fastened to the car seats. This could be due to the high weight it has to accommodate.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I had a terrible time trying to install the Britax Frontier in a Subaru Tribeca. I couldn't tighten the LATCH straps enough to provide a snug fit on the seat. I tried using the seat belt instead of the LATCH with worse results. I couldn't keep the base of the car seat from sliding around on the leather seats. Due to the high top of the car seat, I couldn't lower the headrest, so it blocks my view out the rear window. So far, I have been able to achieve better results with the Recaro Signo.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Cheapest Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

Update: Our car seat was part of the recall that affects the yoke. I have never had a problem with it, and plan to buy a 2nd Frontier for my spouse's car.

The recall affects those car seats made in April 2008, July - Sept. 2008. The problem seems to happen when owners loose up the straps one at a time, causing both straps to loosen unevenly and slipping out of the yoke.

This is our 3rd Britax car seat. We also own a Roundabout and Marathon. As far as I can tell, this is the same style yoke used on the Roundabout and Marathon.

I live in a high traffic area, prone to accidents. After being rear-ended for the third time, I decided to upgrade to a newer car seat. The main reason I bought the Frontier was that my child is tall and skinny. Most car seats can't accommodate his growth, and are too wide to protect him.

Things I considered: 5 point harness, safety rating, fit, comfort, ease of install and adjustment, and length of time before next upgrade. I looked at other highly rated models, including Graco, Recaro, and Safeguard.

Fit, comfort and safety were my main criterias in making a decision. My son loves the independence of this car seat. He can climb in and out by himself, open the car door, use the cup holders, and see out while I'm driving.

The install is different from the Marathon and Roundabout, so READ the manual. I had had no problems with the install, using latch and anchors in a Subaru Forester. We will be buying a second Frontier for our minivan.

I highly recommend having a local certified car seat technician check your install. It is usually free at your local police or fire station. He can advice you on how to get a tight fit.

I miss the velcro straps. Initially, I had problems with the straps twisting and believe it was user error, and now use the armrests to hold the straps.

Cleaning is easy. My son spilled strawberry milk, and it wiped up better than my newly scotch-guarded car floors.

It is the best car seat so far we have purchased for our 2 years old daughter. It is expensive. But our daughter's safety is our first concern. Buying Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

Bought two of these...one for hubby's car and one for mine. My children's safety is my #1 priority so I did a lot of research on carseat/booster seat safety. This one rated high on safety in several reports. It's stylish (my daughter wanted a pink one for mommy's car and a tan one for daddy's car), the drink holders actually work (don't pop off like they do on other seats and are deep enough to hold a water bottle or cup), and my daughter likes the armrests (which can be turned up for ease of getting in and out of carseat - just make sure they are in the down position when vehicle is in motion, according to user manual). It wasn't easy to install in our cars, however my experience has been that it's never easy to install a carseat correctly. It takes some muscle and maneuvering. Easy to adjust to fit my daughter - I did this in our home before installing in our cars. My only real complaint revolves around the straps. They can twist and the buckles fall down to the sides so I have to "dig" for them when my daughter is sitting in her seat. There's nothing on the straps to keep the metal connectors from sliding all the way down to the seat bottom. But the minor annoyance/inconvenience is far outweighed by the reported safety of the seat. Safety comes first! Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Fabric is cheap. We've had the seat for only 6 months and it is already ripped and frayed. The straps are constantly twisting. If you are putting the car seat into a van "captains chair", you won't be able to use the cup holder (as securing the seat will force the cup holder to shut half way). The "end caps" that Britax sent as part of the recall package made it extremely difficult to tighten the straps (as the "end caps" are made of very tacky plastic and get stuck on the underneath curve of the seat). This is my fourth Britax car seat so I am familiar with them and this one is NOT worth the money. Seriously, I would return mine if I could. Order Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

This is our 5th Britax carseat between two cars and two kids. We love the Britax quality and safety standards. My 46 pound, 6 year old still sits in a five point harness. I love the fact that these seats have higher weight limits and can keep my kids secure for many years. My 4 year old is edging up on 40 pounds and it was time to buy him a higher weight rated seat as well. I went with the Frontier because it is rated to a higher weight and height. (Now realizing my tall and skinny 6 year old will probably outgrow the height limit of his seat before he ever comes near the weight limit.) My 4 year old loves his "red, race-car seat". The only drawback to this seat that we've discovered is that the straps on this seat are not as thick and durable as our past Britax seats. They are a bit flimsy and they do seem to twist easily and we have to straighten them out each time we buckle up. I love the padding around the top of the straps that keeps them from cutting into my son's neck. As with all Britax seats, I love that the straps loosen with a lift of a lever and tighten with with a pull on the strap at the base so that each time we get in with or without a coat, my boys are snug and tight in their seats. We needed a new seat to move our 2 1/2 year old up to after a Britax Marathon because our youngest was getting too big for his infant seat. I was going back and forth between this and the Graco Nautilus but in the end decided to stick with the Britax seat. We love it!

The install isn't as bad as I had heard and if you get the pdf directions from Britax on the long belt path, you'll be set! It's a rock solid install and he is very comfy in his new big boy seat! I had also heard so so reviews on the material but I think it's a great material. It's not soft and plush like my Cow Marathon but it's still a great material.

Couldn't be happier with my Britax seats! Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Shop For Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

After reading every review I could find, I ultimately chose this seat because it's a Britax.

The Good:
- it seats my 3-yo, 35 lb, 36 inch tall daughter very comfortably. It's a great long term investment because it's probably the last car seat she'll use.... like i said, it's a britax, you can't go wrong on that front.
- we like the arm rests and cup holders (see the not so good about this)
- i saw complaints about children not being able to see around the side of the head rest but my daughter hasn't had this problem.

The Bad:
- I'm used the the Marathon, which has a little stopper for the seat belt latch to not go down to low. this is missing on the Frontier, so every time I put her in the seat, i'm having to reach below my daughter to grab it.
- Even after reading the manual, we had difficulty with the installation and hope that we have to take it out as far times as possible.
- the material appears cheaper. I.e. the neck guards are much thinner and not a great quality. We have similar colors from the marathon so we are taking all the attachments from there and switching them out.
- the cup holders are difficult to open.. it kind of takes a twisting motion.

Although i don't regret my decision, I am not sure I would spend the same amount of money for our second car...

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

We bought this for our 5 year old, who has been using Britax Marathons (great seat) for years. The Frontier fits him very well and is comfortable and should last him for several years, in harness mode and then booster mode, until he doesn't need a booster anymore. Seems very well constructed. The problem is, it might not work in your car! We first tried installing it in our 2008 Honda Odyssey, in both 2nd row seats, and it was impossible to get it snug with the long or short belt path. No matter what, after installed I could shift the base of the Frontier towards the van door by 6 inches or more. A call to Britax confirmed that it can't be installed safely in the Odyssey in the 2nd row (because the van lower seat belt anchor is so far off to the side from the seat). I wish we had known that before buying! On the other hand, with 20 minutes of hard labor I got a very good install in our 2005 Subaru Legacy wagon (using long belt path). I think it will install well in most cars, but definitely not in the Odyssey 2nd row, so I would also have my doubts about other minivans. So, before you buy, make sure you confirm that it will install in your vehicle where you want to put it.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Review

We were recently in a car accident and needed to replace our Evenflo Triumph. Since my son is 2 1/2 (and we don't plan to have another child) we decided to get a Forward facing/booster seat. I tried the Nautilus for several days and returned it for the following reasons:
1. Head slump - my son is an excellent car sleeper, however the Nautilus pushed his head forward and made it impossible for him to sleep.
2. The buckle was VERY difficult for me to get undone, to the point that I was worried I wouldn't be able to get him out in an emergency.

We decided to pay the extra money and get the Frontier instead and I couldn't be happier! It installed very easily with the LATCH in both our Civic and our VUE. My son sleeps well in the seat and seems very comfortable over all. I also appreciate that my son can remain harnessed up to 80lbs (provided he doesn't outgrow it by height before then). We recently moved my 1 year old into our old Britax carseat (the only brand we buy) and purchased this product for my 5 year old. I have never bought a Britax before because I didn't want to pay extra for the name. I am very satisfied with this particular booster and I did get it on sale. Amazon beat the competitor's by $50 which finally sold me. If you can check it out at a local store then order from Amazon...it will help you determine if the large size booster will fit well in your specific vehicle. I placed it in my medium sized SUV and can still fit two adults on either side. Installation was easy using the latch straps. This seat is not easy to switch between vehicles...it's heavy. But once it's in securely you'll know your child will be safe. The full harness and tall seat back allows use until 8 years/80 lbs. The arms flip up helping with loading/unloading and the stow away cup holders on either side are convenient. My only gripe would be the rubber pieces that are on each shoulder strap used to position the belt...they can get in the way when applying the belt and is grippy to clothing. Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Best Quality

I am a loyal Britax customer, and this is my 5th Britax. I bought this to harness my kids for longer. I have an XC90 and it was horrible to install. I read the manual thoroughly, I was one of the first to buy this seat receiving it on the day of launch. At that point there was no reverse belt pathway in the manual. Britax scrambled to find a way to install it and they walked me through installation on the phone (customer service is first class), my daughter is too heavy for latch (40 pounds in the XC90) so we had to put the frontier in with a reverse belt pathway, and it was a pig, but it is in rock solid. I could not put this in another car alone (say if my car was being serviced). It also does not work at all in booster mode, when you flip the underneath block it hangs too far over the seat putting her legs too close to the front seats. It is just not a good fit. I have used the frontier for a year now and just bought a monterey booster for her. We have one for my 7 year old and love it. I also loathe the twisting straps in the Britax which are thinner than any other britax straps I have come across. In the go go car line there really isn't time for me to jump out of the car and hook the straps under the arm rests so that they don't twist. I am not surprised that there were problems with the yokes as the yoke on the frontier looks the same as those on my other Britaxes yet the straps are significantly thinner. This is a wonderful car seat if it fits in your car, make sure to check it fits with latch, then the seat belt for when your child reaches 40 pounds (this limit varies with different car manufacturers so check) then make sure it fits with latch in booster mode. The frontier is extremely car specific. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Without a doubt, my daughter loved it. It is big and wide and she seemed so comfortable to seat in it. Also, so it was easy to install in the car. I'm not a handy person in nature but it required no brain to do so. Despite it's bit expensive, yet, considering how many years my children will enjoy the seats and safely travel anywhere, I am very happy with this purchase. Now, I have two Britax car seats and I am a big fan of this product. I also had another products prior to our first Britax-car seat, they were hard to install, not fitting perfectly and it was very difficult to move in-n-out car. Britax has this seat-belt like a hook-with button (don't know the name), and it is a life-saver for me because I can easily install this in the car. You can tighten or loosen seat belts by pressing a simple button without hurting your child. There are so many other features that I really love: This is a Mercedes Benz among baby car-seats. Safe, easy to install, yet, very comfortable for my daughters. I highly recommend this car seat for any parents. Proud Father of Two Angels. I like this seat much better than the Regent I have. It is a bit smaller and easier to fit in the car, not as bulky and the fabric is permanently attached to the seat, or at least it looks that way. I didn't care much about the cupholders, for us the side pockets on the Regent work better. The installation is very similar to the Regent, so it wasn't that difficult in terms of understanding/figuring out what goes where and how, and somewhat challenging to actually doing it and securing the seat. I have 2 issues with the seat (hence the 4 stars):

when I installed the seat for the first time I noticed after the installation that the straps for the harness that come from the bottom of the seat were actually loose and trapped outside of the base (they should have been snug under the base of the seat), so potentially I would think in a crash with the force and all the harness would become lose because of that slack. It was "easy" to correct, and there is my second issue: uninstalling the seat was tough, difficult, frustrating and I hated every second of the 20min it took. I am dreading the day I would have to remove either seat.

That said, very nice seat, and if it wasn't so expensive I would have replaced the Regent with it. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

This is a great car seat. I know that my daughter is well protected in it. It is well-built and will allow her to use a 5-point harness longer than she would be able to in other car seats. The side-impact head rests are another safety feature that drew me to this product. The seat is very comfortable for her and she loves climbing in and out by herself (a lot easier than her Britax Marathon). She also loved the idea of the cup holders, although even our smallest water bottles are a bit to wide to come in and out easliy, which is frustrating for her.

I must say that even though I read the manual VERY carefully, this seat was really tough to install. Based on the manual's recommendations, if the seat belt receptor was positioned behind the car seat, we should have used the short-belt path installation. When we tried the short belt path method, we could not get the car seat anchored sufficiently, it slid around way too much (even with the top tether in place). Ultimately, we used the long-belt path installation and it is very stable now. That being said, it took a LONG time to get it tightened and secure in the middle of the back seat of our Highlander. This car seat will not be moving from car to car.

We have not used the car seat in Booster mode so I cannot comment on that. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

We ordered the Frontier Booster Car Seat in the Canyon color after our son outgrew his last Britax seat. Love it, what a great brand! The seat fits perfectly in a Captain's chair in our Buick Enclave. It was a bit of work for my husband to install but we both feel like it's a heavy-duty secure seat for our son, I don't think they get any safer than this seat. My daughter is 3.5 years old. We had the Britax Roundabout for her since she was born and loved it. It was very sturdy and we felt she was very safe in it. It was very easy to install and even very easy to change from vehicle to vehicle. This new Britax Frontier also appears to be top-notch in terms of safety for our daughter. She is very comfortable in it and we like the fact that the 5-pt harness can be used up to 100 lbs. Children should be kept in a 5-pt harness for as long as possible. The only reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 is because the seat is rather heavy and more difficult to install and trasfer from vehicle to vehicle. I suppose it might have to be heavier because it is for older children, but it does make it more difficult to handle! Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

We purchased a Britax Frontier car seat for our 3 year old Godson. We were very glad that there was a review on your site which gave very specific information as to getting the car seat secured properly. Pulling the latch straps back through the seat shell was the key to tightening up the seat. The seat seems to be very comfortable and there seems to lots of growing room for our Godson. The 5 point harness is easy to fasten and unfasten. We feel that this will be the last car seat we will every have to purchase for him.We are very happy with our purchase. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

We have a Britax Roundabout, which we love, so wanted next car seat to be Britax. There are several problems with this:

1. I can live with tricky installation. But after doing the tricky installation, the seat should be rock solid. This one wouldn't hug the 04 Passat Wagon's middle seat when using the LATCH system.

2. I can live with using the seat belt instead of LATCH (we do that in the other car where we have a seat from French manufacturer that doesn't have LATCH). SO tried the LONG BELT PATH installation. Turns out that the seat is too big for the standard seat belt to use the long belt path. The long belt path method intuitively seems more stable than short belt path. For the other French seat, we use the long belt path method and it works.

3. So we have to live with SHORT BELT PATH. OK - it's no worse than LATCH, so can live with that. Tried that installation. The seat moves too much, doesn't hug the car (same problem as with LATCH installation).

4. If you want to install on the side instead of the middle, it may work. But it's too big if you want to install this one and another seat, and one of them has to be in the middle.

The seat is very heavy and solidly built, which inspires confidence in safety (hence two stars, not one). But if it keeps moving... well, they got the basics wrong. The roundabout is great, never moves one bit!

The frontier has other small problems (the clip can slide down the belt all the way unlike on roundabout because frontier doesn't have the velcro straps, for example). We would have lived with those or fixed those under normal circumstances, but can't live with major flaw like this.

Settled for this seat, after trying out others (tried and returned Sunshine Kids Radian 80 as well). We wanted to keep this seat in the middle (not on side), which we couldn't do with long path. The long path works for side seat, as the seatbelt for side seat is much longer than for middle seat. The seat is reasonably stable (not as stable as Britax Roundabout, but acceptable).

So, if you are looking for a seat narrow enough to be in the middle, this is not the one. However, if you can live with the seat being on the side, this may work for you.

As part of researching car seats, found several crash test videos - so keeping kids in 5-point harness is the way to go, NOT using boosters. From that point of view, this seat is great. Just have to live with the seat being on the side instead of middle.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Terrible! I love Britax products but I returned this one. You can't secure properly with a long seatbelt. You have to feed the belt through a tiny channel and then you can't tighten it. You can't fit your fingers in to pull the strap and it got twisted. I tired installing it 5 times. I didn't even put my child in it because it wiggled so much. I really like the Britax monarch and they discontuned it. Too bad because that booster is near perfect! But I wanted a seat with a 5 point harness to transition into a regular seat belt but this seat just isn't it.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Cheapest Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I am the mother of an almost 3 1/2 year old who is very tall for her age and has outgrown her harness carseat. I was reluctant to put her in a booster, as harness seats seem so much safer and more secure. Having only heard great things about Britax car seats, I decided to make the hefty investment and try the Frontier so that she could be harnessed for several more years. The seat appears well built and sturdy, but as the driver of a 2009 Honda Odyssey, I have had to return the Frontier. After several attempts to install the seat using both the short and long belt path installation instructions, I could not obtain a secure fit in the second row seat. (FYI -- for children over 40 pounds using the harness, installation must be with the seat belt, not LATCH) I finally called Britax to find out if others have encountered trouble with installations in Odysseys. They stated that the Frontier was tested in the Odyssey, but that a secure fit was only obtained in the third row. As the parent of only one child, it is highly impractical to banish her to the third row and to climb back there myself to adjust her harness. So, I returned the seat and my daughter has been happily and securely riding in a high-back booster for the past few days. For those contemplating a Frontier, I recommend that you try before you buy, or at least ensure that the seat you purchase can be returned if it does not fit your vehicle.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Cheap Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I was a big fan of Britax before this seat, now I'm seriously disappointed with them. We had two Roundabouts that we loved, although I have wished several times that we had instead bought one Roundabout and one Marathon, so that we didn't have to replace two seats at once when our daughter reached 40 lbs.

I selected the Frontier because it's a Britax and I expected quality and ease of use. I had gotten pretty good at installing the Roundabout, but after hearing several people (including a couple of CPSTs) complain about the difficulty of installation with the Frontier, I took it to a local store that has trained CPSTs to install the seats and let them do it.

What I really wish I had done was played with this one and a couple of others in the stores first to see which I liked best. I'll be shopping soon for another one, and you can bet I'll be trying the Graco Nautilus and any other available 5-point harness seats that go to 65lbs to see if I like something else better.

The biggest challenge we face with this seat is getting our daughter (age 4.5, weight 38 lbs) buckled into the seat quickly and comfortably. The harness straps are usually twisted, (and yes, I do tuck them around the armrests when I get her out of the car, although my husband doesn't always) and they won't tighten properly. I am actually concerned that I can't get her secured in the seat the way she should be for best safety. The amount of time I spend bent over (and I'm only 5'2") trying to get the straps properly adjusted, buckled, and tightened is much more than I'd like to spend, especially in the Oregon rain. Also, when I unbuckle her, the button doesn't always release both harness pieces at the same time, so I may get one strap tucked away only to realize that I have to push the button again to release the other strap.

I hope I can find something better, and that this seat can go in my husband's car, where it will rarely be used. Pretty sad for an expensive seat from a company I once considered the best. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Got the pink 1 for my daughter cause she just got to big for her other 1.

loves it that's all that matters.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I read the other reviews prior to purchasing, and I'm not sure why people had trouble installing this seat. I have a Toyota Sienna and the seat fit right in and installed really easy! The latches adjust on both sides which is great! Much easier than trying to thread a seatbelt! I love the security it offers even when switching from 5-point to a booster! I have a big 3 yr old and he's MORE than comfortable in this big seat. I do travel alot and no longer bring a car seat on the plane, however I wouldn't want to lug this one with me if I did. Its really heavy. So, have an option if you do plan to travel w/your seat. Other than that, I would fully recommend this seat! Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Order Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I have been a big Britax fan for the past 5 years, owning 2 Marathons over that time. I aged up to the Frontier about 5 months ago when my daughter approached 40lbs. The construction is good and I feel confident that these would hold up in an accident.

There are only 2 reasons why I give the Frontier 4 instead of 5 stars. One, it was recalled at the first of the year. Britax issued a small part to correct it, but it does make one wonder a bit of course. Two, they can not build a car seat where the straps don't get twisted. I've seen other reviewers complain so I know I'm not alone. I prayed the Frontier would be a better design, but alas, my straps actually look worse on the Frontier for my 5 year old than they do for my 2.5 year old in the Marathon. Regardless of the strap frustration, I still like the seat and the 5 point harness since my child is not a big 5 year old.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Where To Buy Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

This is an amazing car seat. It is extremely well crafted, and loaded with features. If you check the ratings, you will find that it out performs other similar car seats for height and weight of your child, outlasting many other car seats that cost less. The adjustable head rest allows you to adjust the height of the seat as your child grows. We bought two of these seats to replace our Britax Roundabouts and have had them for about two months now. This seat is easy to install and easy to travel with on an airplane. The only downside is that the strap covers and strap protectors can be somewhat frustrating when strapping your child in.

Advice for any car seat: Make sure you read the manual cover to cover and check your car's owner's manual for weight limitations on the latch system. You may need to use the seat belt to attach the car seat if your child exceeds 40lbs. Have a professional double check your installation, to make sure it is installed correctly. Many local police departments have a certified car seat installer who can guide you through the process. Make sure you check the expiration date on you car seats before passing them on. Many older seats are only good for 5 years from the date they are manufactured.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I have several Britax seats and have loved them all until this one. The marathon/boulevard is the worlds easiest seat to install, but this one is miserable. I follow all the instructions reaching behind the cover to tighten it, but it is still VERY hard to get it tight. I also have a lot of trouble with the straps twisting and they are not long enough to loop over the armrests. I guess my almost 6 year old is too small for that?

Since there's no velcro, the buckles slide all the way to the base of the straps and have to be dug out from under the kid's butt. The cupholders are impossible to open and break easily. I have to say I just HATE this seat. I gave it 2 stars since if it's installed properly, it is very safe. That's its only pro to me. I'm seriously considering replacing it with a Nautilus even though it's only 9 months old.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Review

As my barely 3 year old daughter approached 40lbs, I needed a car seat solution to last a few more years. At first we tried a simple Booster, but I was very unhappy with how it moved around in the car, only held by the seat belt. I did much research, including Consumer Reports (which had an amazing review of car seats that chart restraints, weight and height limits). I was surprised how few choices there were for harnesses above 40 pounds. Our criteria was Harness system higher than 50lbs, convertible to booster beyond harness, LATCH system, safety and comfort.

We had great experience with our Britax Roundabout seat (up to 40lbs), so we decided to invest in the higher end Britax Frontier seat, rather than a few other choices that were less expensive, but also didn't bring the safety equity that comes with Britax. We figured that she would use this seat for the rest of the time she's in a car seat and we didn't want to sacrifice quality for cost.

We've been using the seat for about 3 months now. It's very sturdy and solid, as you would expect from Britax. It's a bit wider than some, which gives the child more room, but also take up more room in the car. I like that you can adjust the height of the seat from adjusting the back, rather than rethreading the harness straps. There is nothing "skimpy" on this seat. It has the padded protector on the crotch buckle, the rubbery chest strap protectors to keep it from twisting, and even padded neck protectors. I like the Side Impact flaps because in addition to safety, it allows my daughter to lean against and fall asleep.

The only thing I'm not wild about is the strap loosening mechanism. In the Roundabout, it's a red button on the front bottom, which I could push and loosen the straps with one hand. On this one, it's the kind you have to lift the lever to release the pressure, and it's buried in the cushion a little. I'm sure it's to prevent an older child from doing it themselves, but I can no longer release and loosen all with one hand.

One more comment, last week one of the harness straps came off while driving. This was a known problem and recall from older versions of the seat, but it was supposed to be fixed. It's due to consistently only pulling one side of the harness when loosening. I called Britax and once I provided all the Serial # details from the seat, they asked me to return the seat for inspection (at their expense) and they sent me a brand new seat. I was pleased and impressed with their responsiveness and concern for safety. Just installed the new seat yesterday, so I hope this one doesn't have any issues. Both seats I received were produced within 2 weeks of when I ordered them, so they don't have a lot of excess inventory hanging around; I liked that I was getting a "fresh" just off the production lines seat.

I consider a quality car seat an investment in my child's safety. While the Britax ones are a little more expensive, I truly can see the quality difference. And no, I don't work for Britax. Just a satisfied customer.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Top Quality

Having outgrown the Britax Marathon (which we loved) I searched for a replacement that allowed the harness mode on my 4 year old for a while longer and converted into a booster later. I looked at the Recaro Young Sport and highly rated Graco Nautilus - all of which are rated well for safety. My decision was made by trying them out. The Graco Nautilus is in many retail stores and I had a friend that has the Recaro. The Nautilus isn't as comfortable and cannot recline as much as the Frontier which is important for me since we go on 3+ hour drives sometimes. But, for the price differential it is tempting. If your child won't be the car for a long period of time, the Nautilus is a consideration. The Recaro is on par with the Frontier but the harness mode only goes to 40lbs. We are extremely happy with the Frontier. Reading the manual is a must for installation as it differs from the other Britax models. We always keep the manual with the car seat so we'll know where it is when we need to adjust anything. It did not secure well with the LATCH in the center seat of my Toyota Forerunner but secures nicely in the side seat. I miss the velcro that held the harness straps aside in the Marathon but I use the armrests for that now. My 4 year old loves sitting by the window like a big girl. She also loves this car seat. On long trips she easily falls asleep and says it's really comfortable. I'm purchasing a 2nd one for my husband's car now.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore This instant

We have been loyal Britax customers for years, owning 2 Roundabouts, 1 Marathon and now recently, we purchased a Frontier. We at first LOVED the Frontier when we LATCH installed it in our 2008 Honda Odyssey. When our child hit the weight limit of the car seat (per our vehicle manual), we tried switching to the belt installation and WOW did we have troubles! I took it to a car seat tech in hopes of getting a better fit with the belt installation. It took 5 techs and 1 1/2 hours to get a solid fit and then when we got home and I read the manual AGAIN, I noticed it was not installed correctly. So once again, installed it (3 people this time) and no luck, not a solid fit.

So, is it the car or the seat I asked myself? I was so frustrated as we have NEVER had an issue installing a car seat. We decided to then try installing our neighbor's Britax Regent via the belt installation to determine if it was the car that did not do well with belt installation or if it was in fact the seat. The Britax Regent installed in less than 2 minutes via the belt installation and we got a rock-solid fit just as we do with the LATCH. Summary, it is the seat that is the issue!

I think this seat is probably great for everyone via LATCH installation and good for some via belt installation. Bottom line, check both before throwing away your receipts! If we were able to get a good fit, I think the seat has some great things about it - high weight limit, LATCH in booster mode, True Side Impact Protection, etc. but if you cannot get a solid fit, what good are those things? This seat is not Britax's best - for the first time, I am disappointed in a Britax. I tried contacting them today to share my concerns and frustrations but they close at 3:45 pm ET on Friday - also VERY frustrating!!

We are going with the Britax Regent in our Odyssey and will either sell our Frontier, use it as a second seat in our Yukon (has a 48 lb LATCH weight limit vs. the 40 lb in the Honda), or keep it for when our LO no longer needs the 5-point harness and we can again LATCH it in and then belt our child.

Wish I could recommend this seat but I cannot . . .

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Immediately

As the owner of a Roundabout, Marathon & Regent, there was no question as to what manufacturer I was going with when faced with replacing the Roundabout for my youngest (age 2). I admit that I was skeptical after having read mixed reviews on ease of installation, but while at Target today, there was one on clearance (someone must have ordered it from Target.com & then returned it b/c Target does not carry this in their stores) & I paid $20 less than the current promotion of $229 -- even w/ 8.7% tax factored in. My intentions were to just try it out & then return it. Much to my delight, I LOVE the seat & am keeping it!

Pros:
1) Installation: Yes, it is a tiny bit trickier to install compared to the Roundabout & Marathon, but like one reviewer said, make sure you read the owner's manual. In order to get a tight fit, you MUST pull the LATCH straps THROUGH the holes of the seat rather than from the outside of the seat. And honestly, compared to the Regent, this seat is a piece of cake to install (I own a 2008 Honda Pilot & have to use the long route method w/ the Regent). I'm sure that the next time I have to install this seat, it will become second nature & take no time at all. As it is, it only took about 2 minutes for me install to my satisfaction (I will still have it inspected at the fire dept. for peace of mind).

2) Sturdiness - The thing is solid, just like all Britax seats.

3) Size - It's smaller than the Regent yet offers the same weight limit on the 5-point harness, which is very important to me. Will my child reach the height limit sooner than 80 lbs? Probably, but I'm not concerned about it. I know that it will still keep her harnessed longer than a lot of other seats. Plus, I have the Regent (still have 5 years before it expires) that I can move her into & my oldest into the Frontier booster if need be.

4) Expiration: 9 years instead of 6 years.

5) Head rests: The Regent is very big & my oldest daughter will sometimes try to fall asleep in the car but can't quite get there b/c she doesn't have enough head support. The Frontier head rests are very supportive & I'm certain that my 2 year old will have many restful naps while in it.

Cons:
- Fabric. I imagine the mesh fabric will snag & possibly tear at some point. My engagement ring has already almost snagged it, so I will be mindful of that.

- Can't think of any other cons!

As for the twisting of the straps, which a lot of people have commented on: I have no complaints. Again, as the owner of a Regent, I'm used to dealing w/ it, I suppose (though it did take me some time to get to that point). I actually find that the straps on the Frontier twist less than the straps on the Regent. I just hang the straps around the armrests (basically put the armrests through the straps) & that keeps them out of the way.

Bottom line: this is a great seat & is one of the best impulse purchases that I've made in a long time. :)

(And sorry for the many comparisons to the Regent, but perhaps it will help someone who is considering both seats make a decision.)
