Where To Buy Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

This is an amazing car seat. It is extremely well crafted, and loaded with features. If you check the ratings, you will find that it out performs other similar car seats for height and weight of your child, outlasting many other car seats that cost less. The adjustable head rest allows you to adjust the height of the seat as your child grows. We bought two of these seats to replace our Britax Roundabouts and have had them for about two months now. This seat is easy to install and easy to travel with on an airplane. The only downside is that the strap covers and strap protectors can be somewhat frustrating when strapping your child in.

Advice for any car seat: Make sure you read the manual cover to cover and check your car's owner's manual for weight limitations on the latch system. You may need to use the seat belt to attach the car seat if your child exceeds 40lbs. Have a professional double check your installation, to make sure it is installed correctly. Many local police departments have a certified car seat installer who can guide you through the process. Make sure you check the expiration date on you car seats before passing them on. Many older seats are only good for 5 years from the date they are manufactured.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I have several Britax seats and have loved them all until this one. The marathon/boulevard is the worlds easiest seat to install, but this one is miserable. I follow all the instructions reaching behind the cover to tighten it, but it is still VERY hard to get it tight. I also have a lot of trouble with the straps twisting and they are not long enough to loop over the armrests. I guess my almost 6 year old is too small for that?

Since there's no velcro, the buckles slide all the way to the base of the straps and have to be dug out from under the kid's butt. The cupholders are impossible to open and break easily. I have to say I just HATE this seat. I gave it 2 stars since if it's installed properly, it is very safe. That's its only pro to me. I'm seriously considering replacing it with a Nautilus even though it's only 9 months old.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Review

As my barely 3 year old daughter approached 40lbs, I needed a car seat solution to last a few more years. At first we tried a simple Booster, but I was very unhappy with how it moved around in the car, only held by the seat belt. I did much research, including Consumer Reports (which had an amazing review of car seats that chart restraints, weight and height limits). I was surprised how few choices there were for harnesses above 40 pounds. Our criteria was Harness system higher than 50lbs, convertible to booster beyond harness, LATCH system, safety and comfort.

We had great experience with our Britax Roundabout seat (up to 40lbs), so we decided to invest in the higher end Britax Frontier seat, rather than a few other choices that were less expensive, but also didn't bring the safety equity that comes with Britax. We figured that she would use this seat for the rest of the time she's in a car seat and we didn't want to sacrifice quality for cost.

We've been using the seat for about 3 months now. It's very sturdy and solid, as you would expect from Britax. It's a bit wider than some, which gives the child more room, but also take up more room in the car. I like that you can adjust the height of the seat from adjusting the back, rather than rethreading the harness straps. There is nothing "skimpy" on this seat. It has the padded protector on the crotch buckle, the rubbery chest strap protectors to keep it from twisting, and even padded neck protectors. I like the Side Impact flaps because in addition to safety, it allows my daughter to lean against and fall asleep.

The only thing I'm not wild about is the strap loosening mechanism. In the Roundabout, it's a red button on the front bottom, which I could push and loosen the straps with one hand. On this one, it's the kind you have to lift the lever to release the pressure, and it's buried in the cushion a little. I'm sure it's to prevent an older child from doing it themselves, but I can no longer release and loosen all with one hand.

One more comment, last week one of the harness straps came off while driving. This was a known problem and recall from older versions of the seat, but it was supposed to be fixed. It's due to consistently only pulling one side of the harness when loosening. I called Britax and once I provided all the Serial # details from the seat, they asked me to return the seat for inspection (at their expense) and they sent me a brand new seat. I was pleased and impressed with their responsiveness and concern for safety. Just installed the new seat yesterday, so I hope this one doesn't have any issues. Both seats I received were produced within 2 weeks of when I ordered them, so they don't have a lot of excess inventory hanging around; I liked that I was getting a "fresh" just off the production lines seat.

I consider a quality car seat an investment in my child's safety. While the Britax ones are a little more expensive, I truly can see the quality difference. And no, I don't work for Britax. Just a satisfied customer.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Top Quality

Having outgrown the Britax Marathon (which we loved) I searched for a replacement that allowed the harness mode on my 4 year old for a while longer and converted into a booster later. I looked at the Recaro Young Sport and highly rated Graco Nautilus - all of which are rated well for safety. My decision was made by trying them out. The Graco Nautilus is in many retail stores and I had a friend that has the Recaro. The Nautilus isn't as comfortable and cannot recline as much as the Frontier which is important for me since we go on 3+ hour drives sometimes. But, for the price differential it is tempting. If your child won't be the car for a long period of time, the Nautilus is a consideration. The Recaro is on par with the Frontier but the harness mode only goes to 40lbs. We are extremely happy with the Frontier. Reading the manual is a must for installation as it differs from the other Britax models. We always keep the manual with the car seat so we'll know where it is when we need to adjust anything. It did not secure well with the LATCH in the center seat of my Toyota Forerunner but secures nicely in the side seat. I miss the velcro that held the harness straps aside in the Marathon but I use the armrests for that now. My 4 year old loves sitting by the window like a big girl. She also loves this car seat. On long trips she easily falls asleep and says it's really comfortable. I'm purchasing a 2nd one for my husband's car now.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore This instant

We have been loyal Britax customers for years, owning 2 Roundabouts, 1 Marathon and now recently, we purchased a Frontier. We at first LOVED the Frontier when we LATCH installed it in our 2008 Honda Odyssey. When our child hit the weight limit of the car seat (per our vehicle manual), we tried switching to the belt installation and WOW did we have troubles! I took it to a car seat tech in hopes of getting a better fit with the belt installation. It took 5 techs and 1 1/2 hours to get a solid fit and then when we got home and I read the manual AGAIN, I noticed it was not installed correctly. So once again, installed it (3 people this time) and no luck, not a solid fit.

So, is it the car or the seat I asked myself? I was so frustrated as we have NEVER had an issue installing a car seat. We decided to then try installing our neighbor's Britax Regent via the belt installation to determine if it was the car that did not do well with belt installation or if it was in fact the seat. The Britax Regent installed in less than 2 minutes via the belt installation and we got a rock-solid fit just as we do with the LATCH. Summary, it is the seat that is the issue!

I think this seat is probably great for everyone via LATCH installation and good for some via belt installation. Bottom line, check both before throwing away your receipts! If we were able to get a good fit, I think the seat has some great things about it - high weight limit, LATCH in booster mode, True Side Impact Protection, etc. but if you cannot get a solid fit, what good are those things? This seat is not Britax's best - for the first time, I am disappointed in a Britax. I tried contacting them today to share my concerns and frustrations but they close at 3:45 pm ET on Friday - also VERY frustrating!!

We are going with the Britax Regent in our Odyssey and will either sell our Frontier, use it as a second seat in our Yukon (has a 48 lb LATCH weight limit vs. the 40 lb in the Honda), or keep it for when our LO no longer needs the 5-point harness and we can again LATCH it in and then belt our child.

Wish I could recommend this seat but I cannot . . .

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Immediately

As the owner of a Roundabout, Marathon & Regent, there was no question as to what manufacturer I was going with when faced with replacing the Roundabout for my youngest (age 2). I admit that I was skeptical after having read mixed reviews on ease of installation, but while at Target today, there was one on clearance (someone must have ordered it from Target.com & then returned it b/c Target does not carry this in their stores) & I paid $20 less than the current promotion of $229 -- even w/ 8.7% tax factored in. My intentions were to just try it out & then return it. Much to my delight, I LOVE the seat & am keeping it!

Pros:
1) Installation: Yes, it is a tiny bit trickier to install compared to the Roundabout & Marathon, but like one reviewer said, make sure you read the owner's manual. In order to get a tight fit, you MUST pull the LATCH straps THROUGH the holes of the seat rather than from the outside of the seat. And honestly, compared to the Regent, this seat is a piece of cake to install (I own a 2008 Honda Pilot & have to use the long route method w/ the Regent). I'm sure that the next time I have to install this seat, it will become second nature & take no time at all. As it is, it only took about 2 minutes for me install to my satisfaction (I will still have it inspected at the fire dept. for peace of mind).

2) Sturdiness - The thing is solid, just like all Britax seats.

3) Size - It's smaller than the Regent yet offers the same weight limit on the 5-point harness, which is very important to me. Will my child reach the height limit sooner than 80 lbs? Probably, but I'm not concerned about it. I know that it will still keep her harnessed longer than a lot of other seats. Plus, I have the Regent (still have 5 years before it expires) that I can move her into & my oldest into the Frontier booster if need be.

4) Expiration: 9 years instead of 6 years.

5) Head rests: The Regent is very big & my oldest daughter will sometimes try to fall asleep in the car but can't quite get there b/c she doesn't have enough head support. The Frontier head rests are very supportive & I'm certain that my 2 year old will have many restful naps while in it.

Cons:
- Fabric. I imagine the mesh fabric will snag & possibly tear at some point. My engagement ring has already almost snagged it, so I will be mindful of that.

- Can't think of any other cons!

As for the twisting of the straps, which a lot of people have commented on: I have no complaints. Again, as the owner of a Regent, I'm used to dealing w/ it, I suppose (though it did take me some time to get to that point). I actually find that the straps on the Frontier twist less than the straps on the Regent. I just hang the straps around the armrests (basically put the armrests through the straps) & that keeps them out of the way.

Bottom line: this is a great seat & is one of the best impulse purchases that I've made in a long time. :)

(And sorry for the many comparisons to the Regent, but perhaps it will help someone who is considering both seats make a decision.)

I have had the Frontier for one year now - I purchased it right after it was released - and the mesh section (center) of the seat cover is terribly snagged and pilled up (velcro kid shoes will do that to mesh!)

On 5/11/09, Britax replaced my Rushmore seat cover FOR FREE with just one phone call to Customer Service - it had to be registered AND show a specific purchase date.

SO...if you already own a Frontier with a mesh seat cover AND you registered it, CALL AND GET A FREE NEW ONE. DO NOT BUY an $80.00 new one from Britax's website. If you are about to purchase one, do two things: (1) consider the Sahara cover, which is NOT mesh (although quite ugly, in my opinion - unless your car interior is also tan) AND (2) register it right away!Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Get it now!

I was surprised how easy this was to install in our Honda Accord. I love it- my kiddo loves it.
The only criticism I have it that it takes up a good chunk of room in the middle seat. Not sure how much room there would be if we had 2 car seats back here. Also, adults are a bit cramped next to it. I'm still very glad we got it and the ease of installation was key!Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

We needed to get a new car seat for our son, who at barely 4 has the height of a 6 year old, and who unbuckels himself with a regular booster. We were happy to see that a 5-point restrait was still an available option and needed to decide between forking over a hefty amount for the Britax or go with the Graco for about 1/2 the price. After reading a ton of reviews, safety reports and talking to a couple of people, we decided to let our son "test-sitting" and all of us opted for the Britax and have not looked back.
Here are the things that really bugged us on the Graco:
* the crotch strap is extremely tight and uncomfortable and has only 2 positions vs. 3 on the Britax
* the straps are not enforced and after about a week you'll have a heck-of-a-time getting the Graco untangled
* the armrests are not moveable, so getting in & out is harder than it needs to be
* the construction in general is less sturdy and the paddding is about 1/2 the thickness of the Britax

I think the saying "you get what you pay for" sums it up pretty well. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Order Now

This seat is NOT worth the price, it's not even worth half that. They make some claims that sound REALLY nice, but...they don't really carry through on them.

9 yr life span, cool thing to offer no other seat has quite that life span so it's cool. About the only Pro this seat has and it's still not worth buying.

It's a PAIN IN THE BUTT to install, it took me several tries and over an hour to install this seat in my truck. Not to toot my horn but I can get every other car seat installed in my truck in less than 5 minutes, so an hour is insane. Not easy to install. Worse still to adjust the harness height you have to uninstall the WHOLE seat so there goes the easy to adjust harness claim... which oddly enough it's just as hard to get the seat out as it is in. The top tether loosening thing is situated so that it's BEHIND the car seat and mashed "face down" between the frontier and the vehicle seat... that's fun to undo. Fun like falling down stairs.

The next CON, the harness straps are flimsy and twist really easily. On my old reliable Marathon the straps were firm and never twisted it was why I bought another britax, but Britax went cheap and put crap harnesses on this seat. Which is sad and disturbing because the seat isn't cheap!

Still not done (sorry-to you the reader not Britax) the "awesome cupholders" are positioned so low on the seat that once it's installed you can't open them... The cover is another area where Britax must have decided that cutting costs was okay, I've had this seat for 3 MONTHS as of today and the cover is falling apart. The mesh is coming apart, seams popping open and it fraying in places. This seat is supposed to last 9 YEARS and the cover is falling apart after 3 MONTHS? I don't see how it will last 9 yrs... first the cover, what next?

and to add some insult to all this, when I called Britax to complain about the cover falling apart I got a RUDE "customer service" rep who was absolutely no help and basically told me to deal with my falling apart cover, it wasn't her problem. Someone at Britax needs a little Customer Service training, I've worked several CS jobs and if I had pulled even 1/4 the stuff she did I would have quickly found myself in the unemployment line.

The moral of this story: Buy the Graco Nautilus, it's 100x better and $100 cheaper. Easier to install, the cover is fantastic, it has cupholders your child can really use, a neat cubby in each armrest for treasures and the harness doesn't twist. It has the same harness slot heights as the frontier and also becomes a booster, there's no reason at all to buy the Frontier. The Nautilus even has girly cover options and Graco has good customer service.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Right now

I have to say this first: The Frontier is a Big Kid seat. I would recommend the Marathon over the Frontier for someone with younger/smaller children. The MARATHON has rear facing capability (which is required for kids younger than 1 AND less than 20 lbs, it is also best for children to RF as long as possible), its less upright (which is good for dozing off), and it is higher up (which allows smaller kids to see out the windows), it harnesses to 65 lbs, and my "will be six in six weeks" son is in no danger of outgrowing it, and of course it has way better fabric options (LOL). I'll say again that I would NOT put a child that was any younger than TWO (or even three!) in the Frontier- I just can't see them being at all comfortable in it. In other words...Do Not buy the Frontier as a replacement for your infant carrier... if that describes you, look at a different seat!!

I have two sons, a 43" 41 lb almost 6 old, and a 39" 36 lb 3.5 year old. Both are similarly sized in the torso, and currently sit an inch or so below the top slot on our Britax Marathon. Both are perfectly happy comfort wise in the Marathon, but that's the problem, because we only have one Marathon (so of course it's the most popular seat in the house- the kids don't understand switching seats). Our other seat is perfectly fine, but it only goes to 40 lbs.

SO, we now have a Marathon and a Frontier in a Honda Accord.

Harness, crotch strap- the harness is incredibly easy to adjust and can go to an almost exact height instead of being an inch or two higher every time you adjust it and there is no rethreading. You can push it up more while the seat is installed in your car, but you can not move it down that way, you have to pull the seat out to adjust down. The crotch strap has three positions, and the second was almost exactly even if not under both my boys. The manual says use the closest one that is not under your kids, so we chose the third position out which is actually quite a bit further out.

Comfort- Both kids love the seat so far and say it is comfortable, however, they have only been in it twice each, and no one has fallen asleep in it yet so I can't say how that would be.

Cup holders- I agree that they are kinda weird and look like the part for the cup is too small to be useful, but my sons have already had two or three different random cups of ours stored in it, so it must be functional enough.

Weight - After reading the reviews online I was expecting this seat to be a 2000 lb elephant when I went to see it in the store. I didn't think it was all that heavy, I lifted it off the high shelf at BRU all by myself. I really didn't think it was any heavier than the marathon, but who really cares anyway? I don't plan to carry the thing around on my back or anything, I plan to attach it to- and leave it in- my car. I also don't see how you pick up a seat built sturdy enough to harness an 80 lb kid and expect it to be light.

Size- as I said I was expecting an elephant after reading the reviews but was surprised to see it was comparable in size in the store when set side by side with the marathon. But in my CAR, however, it looks quite a bit larger, and is deep enough of a seat that it sticks out over the edge of the backseat by an inch or so. (Honda Accord) We had to move the passenger seat up a tad so my son's feet could fit between his seat and the front seat.

Install- It is always a very good idea to READ THE MANUAL prior to purchasing a seat to be sure your car is compatible with whatever seat you are thinking about. (you can read it online- which is also a good idea because it is very difficult to read a manual that is tethered in the seat part of a brand new seat while your kids are all excited and jumping in and out of it). This seat has three methods of install described in the book for harness mode. LATCH, and the long/short belt paths for the seatbelts. (note you cannot use LATCH for any seat after your child reaches the weight capacity your car manufacturer says is the limit on your LATCHes. Most cars are limited at 40 lbs, but some go to 48)

LATCH looked simple enough if you READ THE MANUAL because the LATCHes come out of the back of the seat and you can pull them tight through the seat which looks to me like it would give you a better angle at tightening them, especially if the seat is in your car directly next to another seat. But, My car's LATCH limit is 40 lbs, and my almost six year old is 41 lbs, so LATCH is out for us.

Which leaves, Seatbelt install. I have never thought it was easy to seatbelt any carseat into the car, just because of the nature of getting the seatbelts to lock properly and pulling them as tight as I would like. The MANUAL gives us two options for seatbelt installation with a shoulder belt, long and short belt path (lap belt only was only compatible with short belt path). The manual describes and shows pictures of what type of seatbelt placement is usually best with which belt path.

Short Belt Path- looked compatible with my car from the pictures so we started with that. Easy, right, just follow the LATCH path with the belt, kneel and tighten... or not so easy. The trouble is - for those of you that are wondering- that the belt stalk and the seatbelt connection part have to be SHORT or line up exactly with the hole in the back of the seat, and the head of the belt stalk has to fit into the hole in the seat at the correct angle for you to be able to tighten the belt properly. (but no risk of another child unbuckling your car seat by pushing the button, since the button would be inside the back of the car seat) We attempted (and failed) to line it up and tighten it several times. And honestly it probably was tight enough that there wasn't "more than an inch" of wiggle, but I like my seats in REALLY TIGHT, so...

Long belt path- the trick to this one is having a second person hold on to the belt and keep it from retracting while you are threading it through the holes. (you will need both hands for this.) You need ALL of the belt and if it comes all the way out and starts retracting (and locking), you have to take it out of the seat and start over. Once we figured this out, the installation wasn't so bad, but I have to warn you that the seatbelt in my car (passenger rear) was only about an inch longer than what we needed on this belt path. After that you put your knee in the seat (or sit in it) and you can tighten it.

Was it hard to install? No harder than any other seat I've installed with seatbelts, and it had two belt path options, well maybe a little harder since all the threading for the long belt path. Next time I'm sure we will get it in the car in the usual 5-10 mins. Since we know which method works in my car. Will I be moving it anytime soon? No, but do I usually take any of the seats out unless I have to? No.

Edit to add that yesterday the seatbelt came randomly undone (July 14, 2009). Fortunately I check the seats every time we get in the car (Yikes- a 25 lb projectile with a 42 lb 6 year old attached to it). Anyway, as I was alone and with both of my children, I tried the short belt path again, and I was able to get the seat in quite securely that way. This time I threaded the belt through, latched it, and then moved the seat so I could pull the belt stalk/buckle through the whole in the back of the seat so it lined up properly, then intallation was a snap, and even my husband couldn't get it tighter when we made it home. I'm more comfortable thinking something won't brush the seatbelt button with the beltbuckle inside of the seat.

Also, we have now fallen asleep in the seat and have NOT had head flopping issues.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I am a HUGE advocate for car seat safety. Even if you think you have your car seat installed "correctly" you should always stop by a car seat safety check, usually at a local car dealership. They assist you with adequately securing your car seat into your car. Anyway, when I started looking for car seats I read articles and consumer reports and reviews. I spent a good six months researching and deciding which booster seat my 3 year old was going to be safest in. She is a big girl for her age: 42 lb and 41".
I have to admit I am very price driven in most categories of my life, but when it comes to car seats for my children I don't care about the price tag. I will cut my budget in other areas for awhile to make up the difference. I am a nurse in a children's hospital and after seeing a couple of toddlers with head injuries as a result of a motor vehicle crash you really don't put a price on safety.
My daughter had been in the Britax Marathon and my husband and I loved that seat, but our son was growing out of his infant seat. He would be graduating into the Marathon and I wanted to find a seat for our daughter that could be a booster, but still had 5 point harness. She is still too young to be strapped in by car seat belt alone. The longer a child can be secured with 5 point harness the safer they are. My research brought me to the Britax Frontier and the Graco Nautilus. I was already partial to the Britax brand, but I realize that sometimes brands may be excellent with one product, but not another. My deciding factor was the Frontier seat crash test video clip from Britax's website.
The biggest cons I found people listing about the car seat were: 1 it was much heavier and 2 it was difficult to get secured tightly. The car seat is much heavier than the Marathon seat, but if you think about the child that you are placing in the Frontier they are bigger/heavier than when in the Marathon or other convertible car seats. I will agree it was a bit more difficult to secure the seat tightly, but I read a review that the person informed everyone if they read the owner's manual before installation you should not have a problem. My husband fell victim to this condition, he installed the seat without me and then complained up an down how he couldn't get it tight and it was difficult... I asked him if he read the manual first..."Um, no." So, I pulled out the manual and read the instructions, installed the seat myself and Ta Da, car seat secure and tight and not overly difficult.
Britax is known to have "large" seats and people with smaller cars may not be able to have these seats. I drive a 2005 Chevy Imapla and don't have a problem with both the Frontier and Marathon in my back seat. No one can sit in the middle of the back seat, but that is not a problem for my family of 4.
We are very happy with this seat and are sure we made the "safest" choice.

Low Price Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

The seat is solid and when installed correctly is very secure. The only reason this got 3 stars is because of how difficult it is to install correctly. The seat is very wide and I have tried 3 different vehicles with little to no luck of easy installation. My Jeep Grand Cherokee has what i would consider standard size seats if not a little wider than normal and this seat's base is to wide to tighten the belt (Long path) correctly without really working the belts head up into the seats pathway. Same problem with my Dodge Ram 1500 using the center rear seating was just as difficult as the Jeep. The only seat that was somewhat easy to install (still difficult) was the VW Jetta which it never really spends any time in.

Bottom line is... This is not a portable car seat and I will just leave it in one vehicle and use our backup Graco in the other two.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Recently purchased this seat for my 2.5yrs old. It took me less then 5 minutes to install it. I don't know why other people had so much trouble. It's not rocket science. It really took me more time to remove the previous seat than install this new one. 3 clics and the seat was perfectly placed. My kid loves it and I feel he is fully protected. Substantial in cost but substantial in protection too. Or at least it would seem so going by heft alone. My wee laddie looks cocooned in safety. Well he's not so wee, 6 years old 52" tall. Seat fits him wonderfully. Bit of a bear to install the first time;(the seat, not my lad) took me about 20 minutes. I'd like him in 5-point forever and this seat buys me more time. Highly recommended.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Cheap Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

We already owned a Britax seat, it is one of the marathon convertibles, and we loved it. when I got this one I was hoping for the same experience.

it is very large and very comfortable for my son and the cup holders and arm rests make long trips very nice.

I had no trouble securing the seat to the car in the typical Britax fashion of no movement whatsoever. (make sure you pull the seat belt strap through the opening of the seat when tightening)

It fits perfectly in my new town & country 2nd row buckets.

It is more difficult to put in and take out of the vehicles because of its size and weight, but that is about the only con I could come up with. I'm sure it has to be this way to accommodate the 5 point harness and up to 100 pound weight so even that is worth it.

I love this brand and would recommend them to anyone.

PS if they don't fit properly in the foreign minivans BUY AMERICAN!!!!!!

Buying Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

This is a well-made and exceptional car seat. I'm a huge fan of Britax and recently bought this for my daughter to replace her Britax Decathlon. I am guilty of just skimming through the manual and had a terrible time installing the car seat. I was wrong to assume that it installs the same way my other car seats (Marathon/Decathlon) do. The latch WILL work in your vehicle, granted you read the manual BEFORE you go at it! After becoming highly agitated I went back and took the time to actually read the manual and would you believe it was a piece of cake to install?! Go figure?! I LOVE this car seat and more importantly my daughter loves her new car seat. Another great product from Britax!! I feel that my daughter is safe, comfortable and secure and I wouldn't want her in anything else. It was DEFINITELY worth the extra money. I'm sure if anyone that complained about the latch installation actually went back and carefully read the directions, they would change their opinion of this car seat. It rocks!!!!Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Buy Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I wanted the safest possible seat for my almost 4 year old, who is tall but only 33 lbs. We are happy with the Frontier, it hasn't disappointed us. I've done research and read many reviews. I agree, it takes a little bit of effort to install it, but the safety and sturdiness are worth it. The straps can get tangled a little, but if you get into the habit of strapping them around the arm rest when the kid leaves the seat, it minimizes that problem.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I love the britax products and this car seat is another success for our family. After reading the instructions, the latch system works differently than my other britax's but just as well. I move the seat from car to car a good bit and it is simple to remove and reinstall. My daughter loves it and it is comfortable for her. We hope britax comes out with some cooler covers but other than that we love it.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

We owned the previous version of a Britax booster for our older child- the one without the harness or LATCH. So we ordered this one for our younger child, thinking it would be perfect. It is, but BOY is it wide. In the width and weight categories, it is much more like a standard Britax (think Marathon) than a regular "big kid" seat. Of course it's the safest thing out there, and to judge by the way my 2 year old loves it, I think it must be more comfortable than her non-Britax as well.

Like any Britax, it's an investment compared to other seats in this class, but the flexibility it gives with the removable harness and adjustable headrest should mean it is the last seat we buy for her until she it big enough to ride without anything. I think it will be well-worth it.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Review

After looking at every carseat on the market, I purchased the Frontier and had a carseat specialist help with proper installation - no problem, perfect fit. My husband's SUV has the Latch system and my car (BMW 525 wagon) does not, but both work well. The carseat specialist reassured me we can transition to the booster position without the Latch system. On our first outing, my 2 1/2 yo son fell asleep and looked even more comfortable than in his Marathon (which will now go to my infant). I was worried he wouldn't see out the window as easily, but he's a small child and it's not a problem. The seat looks bigger than the Marathon, but because the top is adjustable it fits more easily into our carseat bag for airplane travel. All around, a great purchase.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Top Quality

I just completed a 3500 mile road trip with my daughter in this seat. Absolutely no complaints from her (about the seat anyway.) We moved my daughter (3 1/2) up to the Frontier out of a Britax Roundabout. The Frontier fits her much better and the armrests and retractable cup holders are nice. I preferred the nylon seat fabric on the Roundabout for cleanup, but this seat fabric seems to be doing well so far for snack crumbs and pet hair. The minimal use of velour reduces pet hair sticking as well.

I love that the straps, buckles, etc are identical to the Roundabout (now used rear-facing for my 8mo old.) The stow-away feature for the LATCH clips is fantastic for dragging this thing through and airport and not having straps dangling everywhere. The automatic shoulder strap height adjustment with the head rest is also a great feature. No complaints so far. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore This instant

We were pleased with our Britax Marathon, so decided to get another Britax with room to grow. It has a low profile - the seat is closer to the car's seat, and the back isn't as thick. Works well in our compact car. Love that no re-threading is required to adjust the height. While not terrible, we found this more complicated to put together and install than the Marathon. Cup holders are a nice feature, but are placed too far forward to be effective for our toddler. Our daughter is comfortable in the seat, and we appreciate the breathable fabric during a hot summer.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Best Quality

This is the 4th Britax product I have purchased. I gave it four stars only because I think they could have made it easier to install. We own the Marathon, Roundabout & companion infant carrier. (All of which i give 5 stars) I consider myself a pro at installing car seats BUT this one is tricky! I found the video on britax's website very helpful!!! After I watched the instruction I had no problems. So I recommend doing this right off to avoid any cussing in the back seat of your car! I used the long belt path because I could get ahold of the belt better to tighten it.
The seat is very sturdy & heavy duty. Not lightweight like most boosters. My son (who is 4 1/2) says it is comfy & he likes the cup holders. It fits nicely in our 2008 honda odyssey in the third row. (Have not tried it in the 2nd row.) I think this booster will be a chore to move around from car to car. Like I said it's big & heavy. But I like that it is so sturdy & heavy, I feel like it is much more safe & would want my son in this booster for sure if we were ever to get into an accident. It has very good head protection. So it may be a chore to move around but I feel that it would be well worth the effort. I like feeling that my son is safe & I have done all that I can to keep him that way.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I bought this seat because of its safety ratings and adjustability from a 5 point harness to the car's seatbelt. I am very happy with the seat and my daughter seems to be very comfortable in it. My only complaint is how difficult it was to install in my car. I have a small sedan and it was very difficult to get the LATCH tight enough to make the seat stable.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

My wife and I are car seat fanatics - that is to say we are fanatical about safe car seats and a secure install. We love our convertible Roundabout, and so were similarly attracted to the Frontier for its features. We were concerned about the install after reading some of the other reviews, but were convinced to learn from the wisdom of others. Installation went very smooth using the shoulder belt in our 2000 4Runner. I pulled the belt all the way out, and placed a spring clamp (metal spring-loaded clamp with rubber tips, like a really big clothes pin) on the belt so it could not retract, leaving me all the slack to work with, which I needed for the long-belt method. The other secret to my success, was rather than trying to cinch the entire car seat tight with one pull, I buckled the seat in (loosely), got the side where the belt first crosses the car seat to be tight, and held pressure against the seat and lap belt there, then pulled the slack through and got the lap belt tight where it hooks into the buckler to get the other side cinched down, and then pulled the slack out with the shoulder strap. I'll admit it took 2 tries, but 1st time install from start to finish in about 15 minutes, including the rear tether (my skeptical wife timed me, and verified the installation). Because installing the Frontier really took both hands, while other car seats I could use one hand to keep the belt from retracting, I feel the clamp really made the Frontier install a relative breeze (my wife is so convinced in its merit, that we are now keeping the clamp in the car). Also, because of the serpentine path of the belt, focusing on getting just one side tight at a time also helped. Only 4 stars because though it's a great seat and I can install it confidently, others in the family who may take my daughter in their vehicle may have a heck-of-a time.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

i absolutely love this car seat. my son is too tall in his body for most harness seats, this one he actually has another notch to move up it. Since he just turned 4, I would rather keep him in a harness and this seat allows that, but will grow with him to a booster until he's 8 (required here). We have a the cannon colored one in my husband's car. Installation is hard if you don't read the manual, but once I read it, it wasn't too bad, you just have to try the long route first to make sure the seat belt won't fit that, if it doesn't you just go to the short route, but once you know, if you need to reinstall it's really easy.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Decide Now

I made the online purchase for the Britax Frontier and cancelled it after reading all the negative reviews regarding installation. After some contemplation I went a head and ordered the seat again. I received the car seat yesterday and had it installed in our F-350 in 5 minutes. I did watch the installation video online at [...] prior to receiving the car seat. There are several challenges with installation, but the Britax quality makes the challenges worthwhile. I did have my husband hold the seat belt so that it would not retract. I tried the short path method of installation and our seat belt buckles won't work with this method. The seat belt was not quite long enough to use the long path method if the car seat was installed by the door, less than in inch too short. The car seat is currently securely belted using the long path method in the middle of the backseat. Don't let the reviews regarding installation change your mind when considering this car seat.

Our daughter has been in a Britax Decathalon since she was six months old. She is now 4 years 3 months. She looked a bit out of place in the Decathalon as of late. Yesterday, she took her first ride in the Frontier and was thrilled to be in a more "big kid" like seat. I won't be moving the seat as easily between vehicles, but am pleased with how our daughter sits and some of the quality features we have grown to expect from a Britax product. I know we will miss the velcro that helps keep the buckles from sliding down the harness when the seat is not in use, but these are small things. Yes, the webbing is not as thick and twist resistant as the Decathalon, but we can adjust to that as well. The Frontier is definitely not the same as the Decathalon, but it is also a seat designed to hold a wider size range of children. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Right now

I read all about car seats for weeks and I really like this car seat. My super tall three and half year old daughter was thrilled by the pink racing stripe and her own cup holders.

I read reviews that said it was hard to install but I did it by myself on a hot day with both children climbing all over me. I found that the manual was unclear. There is a t-bar thing at the bottom of the seat that needed to be swung forward to get a secure fit in my car. It took way too long to figure this out and the photo was useless.

I drive in LA with two kids on LA freeways with crazy drivers and wanted the safest possible car seat. I like that this one will last a long time and I plan on buying another Frontier when my second daughter manages to gain enough weight to be close to 25 pounds. Lowest Price Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I just installed our new Frontier carseat in my 2005 Subaru Outback wagon. I have installed many carseats before and this one was the trickiest, but by no means insurmountable. The short path install didn't work, it was way too loose. So I tried the long path after reading the Amazon reviews and their tips. One person mentioned using a spring clamp to hold the seat belt while you do the routing. Voila! That is the trick, especially when you are installing solo. I pulled the seatbelt all the way out and placed the spring clamp on the shoulder belt right where it enters the vehicle, so it can't retract at all. That gives you all the working room you need to route the belt properly, buckle it and then start tightening. Using your knees to push the seat into the car as far as possible, work backwards, tightening the lap belt, then pulling the slack into the shoulder belt until you get to the spring clamp at the top of the shoulder belt. Pull it as tight as possible - my seat doesn't move a fraction of an inch - it's going no where. I love it! The Pink Sky is very chic and my 4-year old loves it. After installation, take a shower because you'll be sweating....Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I have two Frontiers for my 3 1/2 year old son. One in a 2001 Mazda Tribute and one in a 2006 Toyota Sienna van. My husband had a hard time installing the first one in the Tribute. He read the manual; I downloaded instructions with pictures and tips from other parents but just could not get it tight enough. Ultimately I went to a free car seat inspection/seminar that our county does every other month. He had installed it correctly...basically she just put all her weight on the seat and showed me how to do the final tightening.

When I told my husband it was time to replace the seat in the van and I wanted another Frontier he groaned. But I love the fact that this will turn into a booster and my son loves it. It is comfortable for him, large and he loves the cup holders. He never complains about getting in his seat.

When the second one arrived, my husband and 15 year old daughter got it installed in the van within 15 minutes. It does not move, the straps don't twist and my little guy is comfortable and protected & this is the last seat he will need.

Save Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I purchased the Britax Frontier as soon as it was released in the spring of 2008. At the time I was not sure what to buy for my 3 1/2yr old daughter. She has to tall for her Britax Marathon, but I didn't want to put her in a booster. There were some other seats I looked at but everything looked like it would only fit her for a few more inches. That was until I found the Frontier. I attempted to install it in the middle of the second row of my Honda Pilot, didn't work out to well. The seat was way to loose. I moved it to the second row passenger side and was able to get a pretty tight fit. Spent about an hour trying to install it before I was happy with how tight it was. My daughter is now 4 1/2 and I needed a second car seat for my other car so I bought another Frontier. I installed it on the passenger side rear seat of my Acura RL and it took no more then 10 minutes and I got it very tight on my first try. While the install might be a little tricky and take some extra time, there's nothing like a safe, secure, comfortable car seat for your child.

Side note: I am aware there is now a recall on this car seat. The first frontier I purchased last year is included in the recall. I inspected the straps in the back of the seat and I do see how if pulled incorrectly frequently they can come undone. I already registered to receive the plastic clips the prevent this problem from occuring. I also want to mention that I checked the straps on the back of the new Frontier I purchased this year and spent 10mins trying to get the straps to come undone. It looks like they made the staps fit much tighter now in newer seats.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Love the Britax Frontier. My daughter is very happy in it now that she has graduated from the Marathon. I did not have any trouble installing the new seat in my volkswagon jetta station wagon or in my parent's Honda Odessey minivan. I have not tried it with the seat belt yet. Quality is good and sturdy and I have no doubt that it will last many years. Cheapest Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

Bought two of these on sale through Amazon at a significant discount compared to Babies R Us. This is our second pair of Britax seats and seem to be very well built. Seats are great and easy to operate. Daughter loves them. Only compaints are that the fabric on the front of the seat is very prone to pilling. Also, if you drop a juice box in the seat, it is quite an ordeal to remove the cover for washing. It can be done, but it is not easy to remove and replace the cover. Minor points on something that is comfortable and keeps my child safe.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Cheap Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

We purchased this seat for our almost-3 year old son when our daughter outgrew her infant car seat. We loved our Britax Roundabout, and after reading the pros and cons of this and other car seats opted to stay loyal to the Britax brand. We vacation a great deal, which for our family involves a lot of driving, so having a comfortable chair for our son was important. The padding on the seat, both for his bottom and his back, is excellent. The padding along the straps to protect his neck is fantastic! I wish it was standard on all Britax models. The side impact protection around the head is great and provides some added support when he sleeps. My son is in the 95% for height and weight and we were able to place the seatbelt buckle in the middle slot without discomfort for him. The shoulder strap height adjusts easily, but only before the seat is attached to the car. Getting the seat into the car is a bit of a challenge because of the placement of the adjustment straps behind the seat back. There is a bit of maneuvering required to tighten the seat down properly with the LATCH system. As my son has not hit 40 lbs we have not had to try the seatbelt connection yet, so I am unable to comment on the ease or difficulty of that aspect. We have the Frontier and a Roundabout car seat in our Honda Accord and can still fit an adult between the two car seats. There is no extra room to move, and it is not comfortable for long drives, but there is enough room for a 3rd adult to still fit in the car when required. Despite the more involved process to secure the seat into the car, I would purchase this product again. For people who need a car seat that can be easily swapped between vehicles, this is likely not your best option. For those people that get extensive use out of their car seat in a single vehicle, I believe this product to be worth every penny.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Buying Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

For now I am reviewing the Britax Frontier for installation only since that seems to be the #1 complaint. I am giving it 3 stars at this point b/c all I have done is install it in my van and I feel it could be easier to install, but it certainly is not impossible.

I will start with two pieces of advice - read the manual and know up front that it will take time to get it right if you are using the seat belt(long belt path install for me). If you do not read the manual you will find the seat impossible to install. Half of what took so long for me was just understanding the seat itself (different than any other seat I've installed) and exactly to what the manual was referring. Once I figured out exactly where the belt need to be it wasn't that hard to install. I did need to re-thread the belt three times, but that was b/c my car kept locking the belt and I didn't have enough slack. Once I had my husband hold the belt out for more slack I was done in 5 minutes with a TIGHT fit. I am a stickler for a super tight fit(very little moment to ZERO movement). Overall it took me 1 hour to install, but if I were to undo it right now, I believe I could reinstall perfectly in less than 10 minutes.

Buy Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

We bought this item 8 months ago for my first child because we wanted the best car seat we could find. Not knowing that much about car seats we went for an expensive and highly rated seat from Amazon users. I figure the combination of both of those should contribute a significant part to my child's safety. This possibly is not the best way to purchase an item but car seat descriptions are confusing and so full of legalese that reading about each model from a manufactures website is not much help.

Regardless I am so very happy about the first one I bought that i have just ordered a 2nd one for my younger child who in the last 8 months has grown out of his old one. As others have commented it is indeed heavy and not that easy to put in but the end result is a seat that does not tip over when going around corners, does not let the child sneak out of the arm restraints when your not looking, and comfortable for the child so they don't complain about sitting in it for long periods...(not that this changes anything as they are staying there whether they like it or not). but at least they are happy.

Point is buy this car seat, the fact that it happens to be heavy and bit hard to put in has very little bearing when deciding about your child's safety....so suck it up...your baby is safer :)Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Purchase Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

We have always owned Britax seats and have been very happy until we purchased this one. The straps are always twisted as others have stated and it is really a pain to have to fix them every time we take our 4 year old in and out. We wanted something that was safe and provided a booster with harness option and this is it, but we are really disappointed. Especially for the money. We are going to tough it out because of that. My daughter also complains that it bothers her back on long car trips because the back is so hard and does not have great lumbar support. We bought this seat for out 5 yr old who was starting to out grow her Britax Wizard its 5 yr old and and she was getting to the point she didnt want to be in a baby carseat who cna blame her we tried a regular booster but my husband is in the navy and we are stationed over seas and the drivers scare me out here and we are moving soon and shell be too small to sit one the plane as is and u can bring in a regular booster on there and even tho she likes her regular booster she LOVES this seat she can even buckle in herself and she loves that and even tho she is in a 5 point harness she doesn't feel like a baby. We also got this seat after our graco booster kept moving down so it wasnt sitting right when we get to our next duty station shell be right around 6 and then ill be ok with her moving to a booster booster. and this one will go to our 3 yr old mighty midget and our new baby well get hers till she is two and ready to move into this seat. I dont think i could have picked a better seat for traveling on plane or car. I love Britax because of there ease to love from many different cars and planes my sisters and I none of us make a lot of money wouldnt use anything else for them. its worth saving up for. To find a car they wouldnt fit in i havent yet done so have all our britax and i have installed and used in many different cars. IT might be trickier for some then others but with the manual u shouldnt have a problem at all.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Where To Buy Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I usually do not write reviews....and almost did not purchase this seat based upon the large number of reviews on the site that suggest extreme difficulty installing this seat. Well, we purchased the seat, installed it using latch in about 15 minutes AND IT DOES NOT MOVE. AT ALL. I think the key to a successful install using latch is to position the latch connectors so they can be pulled tight through the holes in the seat that you would use to pass the seat belt in the "long belt path" install. Pulling the connectors tight through these holes gave me plenty of leverage and allowed me to eliminate all side to side motion. It is unfortunate that Britax does not make this tip available in their install guide. I think it would save many consumers a lot of frustration and bad word of mouth publicity. Hope this is useful information. Feel free to reach out should you require clarification. Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

I bought this seat after watching a video about kyle miller on youtube. I would NEVER want anything to happen to my kids if I could prevent it, so though very pricey, we decided to invest in this seat. It is bulky, but very comfy and my son loves it. The cup holders on either side are also useful though not very user friendly. I do like that the one (which isn't user friendly) can be tucked away under the seat. We have a minivan and the one thing I don't like about this seat is that it can't be installed in the back seat as securely as the front seat. Now with baby number 2, we are looking at purchasing another britax - one for her age as soon as she outgrows the infant carrier. I most certainly won't go back to using my son's old graco seat that was so hard and uncomfy I don't even know how he managed to sit in it for 2 years!

Another thing about the britax frontier versus other boosters - it's 5 point harness system goes up to 100lbs. No other car seat does that (I was going to get the sunshine kids radian 80 until I saw that). However if you want a seat that you want to use from infant to booster (60-80lbs) then the britax frontier or the sunshine kids radian 80 are good buys.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore

I have bought and used many Britax seats. This one sounds and looks great, but stay in a Marathon or Decathlon if your child is younger. They will be so much more comfortable. I really liked the idea of using it at 1st as a 5 pt harness then switching to a booster later, but it is a bit heavy (for a booster) and not so easy to get the latch straps initially installed unlike the decathalon which is such a breeze. This seat, I think, is much better suited for a smaller 5 or 6 year old. Not a 3 or 4 year old. My 3 1/2 year old is on the small side and cried when I put our very used Marathon in my husband's car and switched her to this seat as her main one. It is just not as padded and cozy. My 6 year old sat in it and thought is was ok, but said he liked his booster seat much better (it is one of the discontinued boosters, but we have loved it.) I have my 20 month old son in a new decathalon next to my daughter and he just looks so much more cozy and realxed. I wish I would have just gotten them both decathalons!!
Whatever you do, I highly recommend Britax, just not too pleased with the Frontier as a 5 pt harness seat.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.

Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore Review

My son was rapidly outgrowing his Britax Roundabout, so I had to get a larger seat. I wanted him in a forward facing 5-point harness for as long as possible. I measured his shoulder-height (his height seems to be in his torso) and was concerned he would quickly get too tall for the mid-size convertables, and I wanted to be able to use a seat for at least a few years. The Frontier will allow the tallest shoulder-height of the Britax seats. This has tuck-away cup holders, which are a nice feature, but do not operate smoothly. The arm rests raise and lower, a nice feature for an older child. The 'latch' to loosen the harness is tucked up underneath, and I've had to feel around to find it though it does operate very smoothly. The crotch-strap has two-hole-positions to choose from. There is a "latch/clamp" at the top of the headrest on the backside to raise or lower the shoulder height strap placement - very convienent and fast. There are shoulder pads to protect from the straps cutting into the neck. It comes with a belly pad, but my son promptly ran off with it and lost it. He can buckle and unbuckle himself, but he was opening baby gates/cabinet latches/door knob covers at a very young age too. I like that it can convert to a booster to 100lbs. It comes in red, my son's favorite color and he "loves" it. (though my first response was I needed sunglasses). I have no idea how this would work for an infant in the rear-facing position.

Only parts of the cover are removeable for washing, unlike the Roundabout which quickly slipped on and off. Both require removing the harness to get to the cover. I could remove my Roundabout harness straps and wash them too. (wow, did they come clean) The Frontier straps can not be removed from the seat.

Now the reason I'm only giving this three stars. I do not have latch in my 2000 Chrysler Van. The seat gives two options for the adult belt to strap the seat in in the forward position. The "short" path, is not secure, and is meant to be used only with latch. The "long" path is reasonably secure - but . . . the seat belt is too short by about one inch. There is a universal seat-belt extender that requires detaching your seat belt from the base anchor, attaching the extender with a bolt, and attaching the bolt end of the lap/shoulder belt to the other end with a bolt. It becomes a semi-permanent installtion for the belt and the seat can only be used in seats where I have done that to the belt. The 'regular' seat belt extenders just change the location of the "problem" to the buckle end as it it changes the locaiton of the buckle of the seat belt head. Then it is much too bulky. I love how fast and easy it was to install the Roundabout, this is NOT fast *or* easy. The long-way belt path makes the belt 'scrunch' requiring untwisting it. It is *very* hard to tighten the seat belt adequately to make the seat not move. There is no lock-off. I have the same seat-belt problems in my daughter's Camry. The other cars will not take a car-seat of any kind.

I want him in a forward-facing harness and I don't think he is large enough (he still is less than 40lbs at 4 1/2, but too tall for the Roundabout) to be safe in the seat as a booster. I will keep the seat to use as a booster up to 100lbs - it uses another belt path as a booster, but I'm now shopping for a replacment seat to use until he is big enough for a booster.Get more detail about Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Rushmore.
